The Changing World of Insurance: What EVERY Therapist Needs to Know
Course Description
With the Affordable Care Act, millions more psychotherapy clients now have insurance coverage, and will want therapists who accept their insurance. Is a private-pay only practice still viable? Must working with insurance mean fee discounts, limited sessions, mountainous paperwork, and micromanagement of treatment?

This essential and entertaining workshop addresses what EVERY therapist should know, whether an insurance novice, veteran, or if an out-of network-provider. Insurance plans often review the treatment of out-of-network providers, so a lack of information in this area can hurt both therapists and clients.

Discover the biggest mistake therapists make when dealing with insurance, a strategy for getting in the door at "full" insurance plans, the 13 essential questions to ask about a client's coverage, and how to keep new clients even if you are not on their plan's provider list. Learn the pros and cons of working with insurance, tips for filling out the CMS-1500 claim form and invoices, and get tips for avoiding costly denials. Understand "medical necessity" and the secret to treatment approvals, what should be in progress notes, and common billing and diagnosis practices that are actually fraud. This workshop will help you make your services more accessible to clients of all socioeconomic backgrounds as well as help you successfully advocate for your clients with insurance plans.
